ZDA so z raketami napadle dva cilja v Jemnu, ubitih je bilo okoli 120 ljudi. Napadli bi naj Al Kaido, sicer pa je v državi kar nekaj sočasnih konfliktov. Na severu se upirajo šiiti in v vojno je vpletena tudi Saudska Arabija. Na jugu so močni separatisti. Država je zelo revna, leži pa na pomembnem področju, ob Rdečem morju, po katerem plujejo trgovske ladje, tankerji, vojaške ladje. Čez morje, ob obalah Somalije, delujejo pirati, v Somaliji sami pa se že dolgo bije vojna med islamisti in šibko centralno vlado, ki so jo pred propadom rešili Etiopijci.
Še eno področje, kamor se širi tako imenovana vojna proti terorizmu. Obama ni noben mirovnik, pač pa nadaljuje Bushevo politiko, le da je zdaj bolj mirno v Iraku. Zato pa gori v Afganistanu, obmejnih delih Pakistana, zdaj še v Jemnu. Tisto Nobelovo nagrado za mir, no, že tako ali tako jih je bilo malo, ki so mu jo privoščili, iz dneva v dan pa se kaže, da je bila odločitev dejansko povsem nora.
Nič ne kaže, da bo na svetu kmalu mir. Ampak to že vemo. Vprašanje je le, če bo Američanom kdaj kapnilo, da se vse te vojne preprosto ne splačajo.

Takšna politika je logična, saj če se spomniš so mu republikanci v volilni kampanji očitali ravno nesposobnost obračunavanja s terorizmom . Centcom pa ima očitno precej ohlapna "rules of engagemnent", ker ne verjamem, da za vsako potezo pridobivajo predsednikovo odobritev (sploh glede na to, da napad ni omenjen ne na MSNBC in ne CNN). Sramota. Al Kaida? Kdo Američanom sploh še verjame?

cr, na ABC-ju je zgodba bila, za druge pa jaz tudi ne vem. V Jemnu so napad sicer prevzeli kar nase, ker bi jim prebivalstvo zamerilo, ampak v teh časih se itak ne morejo kaj veliko pretvarjati.
O Iraku pa je res tišina, čeprav problemi še vedno ostajajo nerazrešeni, le da so se Američani umaknili v svoja oporišča in imajo zato zelo malo žrtev. Ogromna ameriška vojaška prisotnost še naprej ostaja, mediji so pa lepo tiho in Obami ni potrebno izpolniti obljube o umiku.

Mimogrede, ta nesojeni nigerijski terorist bi naj imel povezave v Jemnu.
Dejstvo: Jemen ima več konfliktov.
Američani bodo verjetno skušali vse poenostaviti na spopad z Al Kaido. Tudi vojno na severu, med centralno vlado in saudsko vlado na eni strani in šiitskimi uporniki na drugi. Koliko je iranskega vpliva, je stvar debate.
Na Gazo je medtem svet pozabil. Mineva namreč eno leto.
